Phillip joined the ESa team in 2012 after graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee. Through his time with the firm, he has been involved with a multitude of projects ranging from hospitality, performing arts, educational, commercial and healthcare. He has also worked with community partners including the Tennessee Performing Arts Center and the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere.
As a Senior Design Manager, Phillip is primarily involved with the initial stages of design, working diligently with clients to bring their visions to reality through an architectural solution. He begins each project with hand sketching and believes that this encourages the clarity of ideas and artistic expression needed to create beautiful architecture.
Phillip’s design philosophy revolves around the idea that “architecture is experiential—people will respond to spaces as they are immersed in them.” He believes that architects should aim to create impactful moments for users as they experience a space. Outside of the office, Phillip loves traveling with his wife, has an affinity for bourbon and rye whiskies and enjoys a good nap. He also enjoys golfing and still continues to play basketball, for as long as his knees will allow.
