Promoting connectivity and meeting the demands of the quickly growing student body, the new expansions and renovations for the Trevecca Nazarene University Jernigan Student Center rejuvenate a structure located in the heart of campus.

Relocating certain programs and with new campus expansion to the west, the building now contains the university’s Spirit Store, a high-end expanded kitchen, a larger dining room seating over 450, a cafe and marketplace directly adjacent to an outdoor plaza, a new office suite housing Student Government and Diversity Council programs and flexible student lounge spaces. Upgrading an existing monumental stair enhances the user experience while maintaining connection between floors. The balcony of the third floor sits within the two-story volume of the main dining room, creating a visual connection between the spaces.

Improvements to the President’s Dining Room, expanded restrooms, new finishes, lighting and furniture re-energizes the building as the center for student experience at the university. While honoring the building’s mid-modern character, the new expansion allows for a new conference space with views of Downtown Nashville and increased seating capacity for the growing student body. Located adjacent to the first floor marketplace, a new exterior video wall helps anchor an expanded plaza and provides a modern student amenity for the campus.

The three-story center previously included a 322-seat cafeteria, grill, administrative offices and conference spaces, a bookstore, the formal Presidential Dining Room and the campus mail room, along with student gaming and entertainment spaces.
