ESa is providing programming, architecture and interior design services for LaGrange College’s newest science facility and the renovation of the existing Cason J. Callaway Science Building. Located adjacent to the existing facility, the new approximately 40,000 s.f. building is laboratory-focused. It will provide Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and general teaching spaces for primarily under-graduate students. The Callaway Science Building is being updated and renovated to provide additional classroom, lab space and faculty/departmental administrative offices and meeting spaces for Physics and Mathematics.
The new building is linear and set back from the street to allow space for a courtyard and building entrance that makes a statement for the entire campus. Strategically located along indoor and outdoor circulation routes, informal spaces help foster social interaction between students and faculty. Serving as a gateway to campus with its location at a major intersection, the structure expresses the importance of the sciences to LaGrange College, the local community and the modern world. This project is currently in the Construction Document Phase.
