Seeking WELL Building and LEED certification, the design of this nationally recognized commercial general contractor and construction management firm’s Nashville office demonstrates an investment in the health of its occupants. Implementing WELL Building and sustainable design elements like abundant natural light, a wellness room with a daylighting system, sit-to-stand desks and natural wood, the design team utilized creative solutions to infuse DPR Construction’s brand with a Nashville vibe.

An existing commercial building was updated to meet DPR’s current needs and accommodate future growth, while incorporating brand-inspired motivational elements. The new office features collaborative open office space, an employee breakroom with an adjoining large training room (which can be fully enclosed by moveable glass garage doors), an outdoor patio, wine bar and other flexible hoteling and conference room spaces. Various woods and patterns reflect Nashville and combine with DPR’s corporate messaging to keep the design fresh. The redwood slab in the entryway is a subtle nod to DPR’s headquarters in Redwood City, CA.

From initial input surveys onward, the design team sought employee feedback as concepts were developed. After exploring multiple options, a front patio was selected to provide continuous flex space and capitalize on views of Downtown Nashville. Graduated wood screening separates the patio from the main street and parking areas, creating a space for clients and staff to socialize as both colleagues and friends.
