This one-story neighborhood hospital and clinic space creates a convenient, patient friendly healthcare environment that is also a community destination. The facility includes 10 ED exam positions, 10 private medical patient rooms, diagnostic imagining services and integrated clinic space with visitor/patient access, adjacencies and sightlines designed to encourage efficient healthcare delivery to this rural East Tennessee community. Designed for future growth, planned additions include surgical services, supplemental patient beds and additional imaging capabilities. Located near a major interstate, the facility is within 30 minutes of a larger tertiary hospital that treats higher acuity patients.

Featuring wood, stone and other rustic design elements, the architecture is a reflection of the local community. Honoring the area’s rich railroad history and connection to Cherokee National Forest, the building offers panoramic views of the Appalachian Mountains, the Nolichucky River and the Appalachian Trail. Additional hospital amenities include a dining/café space resembling a local coffee shop rather than a traditional cafeteria and a gift shop. A heritage wall displaying local photography, historic sites and community memorabilia conveys the region’s special heritage, commitment to service and traditions.

The local community is also honored in the selection of rustic, durable furniture and finishes, which include tables constructed from reclaimed railroad ties and barn materials.
