Originally from Nashville, Misty joined ESa in 2006 after serving as director of facilities planning at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University. First meeting ESa as a client, Misty was instrumental in helping to create and implement the process to plan, design, build, equip and furnish Vanderbilt’s freestanding children’s hospital. Earning her M.S.N.in Nursing Administration from Vanderbilt University and her B.S.N. from Emory University, Misty is a licensed Registered Nurse with more than three decades of experience.

As clinical operations/design specialist, Misty works with clients and the design team in the early phases of a project to bring clinical and evidence-based design knowledge to the process, at the point when concepts and design solutions are being developed in accordance with operational goals. Misty also provides in-house consulting on clinical operations and design issues for healthcare, senior living and education projects. Misty believes that excellent client service is achieved by “being responsive and honest, exceeding client expectations and providing clear communication.” Misty is inspired by the people and clients with whom she works—she enjoys working with a creative team to find unique, responsive solutions for clients’ goals.

Misty also leads design research efforts for the firm and serves as a liaison with groups such as the Center for Health Design, Americans for the Arts, Planetree Visionary Design Network and The Advisory Board. She is a member of American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Nurses Association, and an associate member of the national, state and local AIA.  Outside of the office, Misty enjoys traveling, doing volunteer work in arts and health and spending time with family and friends.
