ESa provided master planning and lab planning services for DaVita Labs, a nationally-recognized Fortune 500 Company. Streamlining seven existing lab facilities into one large 17.5-acre corporate campus, the new campus consolidates all DaVita corporate office and lab service lines.
Monitored from a central command, the main secure lobby entrance, through which all laboratory, administrative and executive team members arrive, helps to promote unity. Adjoining the lobby is a town hall dining/theater area that provides seating for 450. In addition to being utilized by employees daily, this area can host special events. Theater lighting is incorporated into the design of the stage area, and the space can be partitioned for different reconfigurations. Floor to ceiling glass windows overlook a four-acre greenway and parklike area that includes a walking path and fountain feature.
To streamline blood testing and the results delivery system for DaVita Labs, an automation line is incorporated with robotic equipment that analyzes and provides results for up to 144,000 samples each day. This model is the largest in the United States. The facility complies with the latest energy efficient codes, including the use of all LED lighting and increased daylighting. The structure is designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.
Prior to design, a charrette was conducted to encourage Lean principles with maximum design efficiency. Modular casework allows for flexibility with future growth.
