The goal for the flagship campus for Heritage Medical Associates, one of the largest independent, multi-specialty physicians’ groups in Middle Tennessee, is to develop a modern design for the new medical office building and clinical suites that conveys leading-edge healthcare delivery while complementing the surrounding development. The new three-story, 63,468 square foot MOB, comprised of one level of parking and two levels of clinical suites, is located on a 3.61 acre site in the existing Westgate Commons Office Park in Brentwood, Tennessee.
The project scope included design services for all new construction, including building shell and structure and the complete interior build-out of individual clinical suites. To address the issue of separate clinics not identifying as a cohesive group, the lobby design allows views to all clinic check-in areas and provides consistent branding and signage for Heritage Medical Associates. A grand staircase at the entry connects parking and both clinic floors, while the lobby provides views to the outdoors from the waiting area. Natural daylight is accessible from clinic spaces.
The design team partnered with HMA leadership and physicians to effectively evaluate, program, design and deliver a state-of-the-art clinical facility that seeks to enhance the delivery model for patient care provided by Heritage Medical Associates. The result is a clinically informed design with a strong emphasis on best practices, Lean attributes and other evidence-based design concepts that encourage operational efficiency and provide for future flexibility.
