Jay joined ESa in 1991, after earning his Bachelor of Architecture, Urban Design and Planning degree from the University of Tennessee. As Design Manager for healthcare projects, Jay’s role encompasses masterplanning and space planning, with a particular expertise in exterior design. He is primarily involved at the front end of a project, meeting with clients and user groups to assess overall facility requirements and to determine departmental needs.
When designing hospitals, Jay believes that function follows form. He also believes that excellent client service is demonstrated when “we really listen to hear clients’ needs for their facility.” A member of the national, state and local AIA, Jay keeps up with the most modern trends in healthcare. Jay knew he wanted to be an architect at a very young age, and he enjoys working at ESa because he has the “opportunity to continually gain more knowledge of the healthcare industry and be creative in helping clients accomplish their needs and goals.” In his personal time, Jay likes to travel to (any) beach, design houses and collect anything having to do with gorillas (magnets, golf club head covers, etc.).
