Natural light permeates the interiors of this 110-bed acute care hospital in the public areas, patient rooms, operating rooms, PACU, and ends of patient corridors. Designed around the requirements for obtaining LEED® certification, the hospital is the centerpiece of the 28-acre campus that also includes a medical office building. In addition to the multiple glassed views to the out-of-doors, a healing garden and outdoor dining pavilion offer other opportunities for patients, families, and staff to connect with nature. Brick, Texas limestone, and glass compose the hospital’s exterior materials, incorporating design elements that are aesthetically in keeping with the architecture of the surrounding community. A limited number of designated parking spaces with plug-in meters are available for electric and hybrid vehicles.
The state-of-the-art facility is the first hospital in the country to use a new interfacing application known as SnapWalk. Utilizing designated hospital signage and any web-enabled device that carries the SnapWalk app, visitors have the ability to access a digital map of the facility that provides interactive, user-friendly wayfinding assistance. The ED’s unique split-flow design concept is a patient-care model in which triage is performed immediately upon a patient’s arrival to determine the severity of a patient’s condition. It streamlines patient flow, reduces wait times, and allows for fewer exam rooms.
