Spanning 67 acres and master-planned for a health and wellness destination, this new medical campus brings vital healthcare services to the Texas Hill Country. Anchored by an acute care hospital, this multi-phase development is set to expand with future medical office buildings, wellness facilities, and retail spaces, creating a comprehensive health hub for the region.

The acute care hospital, as the campus’s cornerstone, features a flexible design that allows for future horizontal and vertical expansion across essential service lines, including emergency care, imaging and surgical services. This adaptability enables the facility to grow with the community, supporting increased demand over time.

The hospital’s welcoming entry features a double-height lobby with expansive windows inviting natural light to the interior. Inspired by the rich architectural context of South Texas, the design incorporates natural materials on the exterior facade and landscaping, creating a harmonious connection to the regional environment. Inside, the hospital provides 92 beds, with shell space for an additional 12 beds, advanced clinical spaces such as six operating rooms, two catheterization labs, endoscopy, diagnostic imaging (including MRI and CT), emergency services, and a bed mixture that includes obstetrics, intensive care units, and medical-surgical units. With the potential to add up to 72 beds in the future, this facility is well-prepared to meet evolving healthcare needs.

A 50-foot connector links the medical office building (MOB) to the hospital, enhancing service efficiency and providing easy access for physicians. The MOB spans three floors and a garden level and includes suites for hospital administration, imaging, surgical and specialty clinics, cardiology, women’s health, a breast center, and orthopedics, as well as areas reserved for future tenants.

A key design challenge was the site’s steep slope and limited road access. To address this, our design team created a walk-out garden level that integrates seamlessly with the landscape, offering patients and visitors an inviting outdoor space. Working closely with the owner and contractor, we balanced budget and schedule constraints through cost-effective solutions, including the use of exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS) that delivered both aesthetic and budgetary benefits.

This medical campus not only meets current healthcare demands but also looks ahead, poised to grow alongside the Texas Hill community, creating a sustainable foundation for health and wellness in the years to come.
