Part of a larger mixed-use development, Vitality Living at Upland Park is a 166 unit retirement living community in Huntsville, Alabama. The community offers three-stories of independent living and assisted living, along with a one-story memory care facility attached. Twelve retirement living cottages with an attached garage and multiple layout options are also available. The Upland Park campus boasts a long list of amenities providing you with an unmatched living experience in the Huntsville area.
To accommodate the client’s vision of offering separate services and amenities for assisted living and independent living in a subtle and inclusive manner, our design solution turned the building footprint into an H shape to organize the occupancies both vertically and horizontally.
Our team designed a unique exterior, which coordinated with adjacent residential buildings in the area. To ensure that this facility blended with the surrounding areas, matching architectural elements were included in the design.
Our design goals included celebrating the three primary industries in Huntsville—agriculture, space and national intelligence—in impactful ways, such as incorporating these concepts into the art selections, millwork details and lighting designs. In addition to the modern farmhouse aesthetic throughout the interior and exterior of the building, intentional design elements include wood beams, wainscoting, and geometric motifs that celebrate the space sciences, engineering and national intelligence industries in the details.
The design team utilized accent colors and textures throughout the campus to provide a consistent experience, though each level of care has materials appropriate for each use, as well as its own look and feel. The updated amenities offered to residents include indoor and outdoor opportunities to connect, relax, and enjoy the community. To promote an active, vibrant lifestyle Vitality Living at Upland Park offers a café, spa treatments, a large gym, an activity room with demo kitchen, a theater room, a golf simulator room, a sports lounge, an outdoor putting green, outdoor dining areas, a bocce court, and a rooftop terrace with an outdoor fireplace, in addition to standard spaces and amenities such as living rooms, libraries, arts & crafts rooms, and dining rooms.
