Brookdale Galleria is located in the heart of uptown Houston, Texas. The urban community consists of independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing. The design team was given direction to improve and enhance the residential program while also elevating the design to fit the demographic. The large renovation consisted of 16 floors to the existing independent living tower and the assisted living on the third floor. New public spaces, upgraded finishes, lighting, plumbing along with modifications to the exterior cladding were all part of the scope. Existing amenity spaces were updated along with the additional new amenities to engage the residents and promote their well-being.

Interior renovation enhancements include a new café, updated entry lobby, living room, dining room, library, card room, various activity areas, beauty salon, fitness, physical therapy spaces, in addition to the resident corridors and public restroom improvements. The team also renovated the exterior pool courtyard which includes a new café patio. Major exterior façade improvements include the addition of a new aluminum and glazed glass rain-screen attached to the existing concrete structure, this design element features back lit signage that refreshes the exterior, making it more contextual with newly renovated streetscapes and other neighborhood enhancements. The design team worked together to successfully incorporate the new façade onto the existing structure, resulting in a new design that places the tower in better context with its growing urban surroundings.
