Steve and Judy Turner Recital Hall, a 272-seat venue at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, has been a key rehearsal and performance space since its debut in 1980. Recognizing the need for both aesthetic and acoustic upgrades, ESa was tasked with revitalizing this essential facility.
ESa provided comprehensive design services from concept through construction, implementing new seating, flooring, house lighting, a stage extension, and custom acoustic paneling for the backstage wall. Despite a limited budget, the project successfully enhanced the hall’s aesthetic appeal and acoustic performance.
To minimize disruption to the academic schedule, ESa carefully planned and executed the renovations over multiple summer and winter breaks, ensuring that Turner Recital Hall remained fully operational for the Blair School of Music. The newly renovated hall opened over the Fall 2024 semester.
