As a registered nurse with extensive experience in critical care and healthcare innovation, Emily brings a dynamic perspective to bridging clinical expertise with healthcare design. She recently earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Health Innovation and Leadership from the University of Minnesota and holds an Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC), underscoring her commitment to research-informed, patient-centered environments.

In her recent role at Mayo Clinic on the Bold. Forward. Unbound. in Rochester initiative—a $5 billion capital investment project—Emily collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to infuse clinical insights into the early design phases of new clinical buildings planned for the campus. By leveraging human-centered design principles, she facilitated stakeholder engagement sessions—ranging from frontline care staff to executive leaders—translating clinical innovation and operational needs into functional, patient-centered design solutions.

Emily’s clinical background in pediatric and neuroscience intensive care units gives her a deep understanding of workflows, patient journeys and care delivery. She brings expertise in design thinking, quality improvement, and systems approaches to advance ESa’s evidence-based design philosophy.
