ESa-designed Tempo by Hilton Honored for Exceptional Design by AIA Middle Tennessee
Tempo by Hilton Nashville was recognized at this year’s AIA Middle Tennessee Design Awards honoring the remarkable work that architects are doing in our communities. The annual Celebration of Architecture awards ceremony was held at Saint Elle on October 16, 2024.
The Tempo by Hilton in Nashville was awarded a Citation Award for its thoughtful integration of modern hospitality design within the vibrant context of downtown Nashville. The jury said the building’s clean, contemporary lines, unique formal approach, and inviting public spaces create a seamless connection between guests and the surrounding urban environment. Its attention to sustainable practices and locally inspired materials further elevates its contribution to the city’s evolving architectural landscape.
Also honored at the Celebration of Architecture were David Bailey, FAIA; and Tara Myers, FAIA. David Bailey, FAIA; and Tara Myers, FAIA; were elevated to the AIA College of Fellows, AIA’s highest membership honor, for each’s exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society. Less than three percent of the architecture profession achieve AIA Fellowship.
Projects are entered under six categories: small, large, healthcare design, interiors, residential, or unbuilt. The jury was encouraged to recognize and acknowledge exceptional design in the categories of Citation, Merit, and Honor, with Honor being the highest award.
A jury of architects from the AIA Charlotte chapter judged the entries. Jury members were Carol Bacon, AIA (ADW Architects); Natasha Edwards, AIA (Little Diversified Architectural Consulting); Marc Manack, AIA (Silo AR&D); Liz McCormick (UNC Charlotte); and Marcus Thomas, AIA (KEi Architects).
