ENR Southeast names top projects
The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Belmont University has been honored by ENR Southeast with a 2022 Best Project Award in the Higher Education/Research category. The contractor for the project, R.C. Mathews, submitted the project for the award.
Two panels of expert judges selected 31 winners in 16 categories from 93 total submissions. Of the 31 winners, 16 earned Best Project accolades and five projects were given Awards of Merit. Projects that were honored stood out to the judges for the challenges that were faced, how those challenges were overcome, innovative ideas and outstanding quality of work.
Completed in September 2021, The Fisher Center is a classically designed 1,700 seat, multi-purpose proscenium theatre modeled after the finest opera houses of Europe. It boasts a proscenium connection to a 90-foot tall, 7800 square foot stagehouse. The space also includes an 1,800 square-foot warm-up/rehearsal room, multiple dressing rooms, a green room, catering facilities, a three-bay loading dock with marshalling yard, and multiple support and storage spaces.
An 8,000 square-foot lobby transforms into a ballroom for events and is flanked on its north and south sides by two 3,500 square-foot recital halls, each providing a different acoustical experience as a part of the performing arts program. These recital halls also can be opened to combine with the lobby and expand the banquet capabilities to seat more than 900. Upper level balconies allow patrons to experience the lobby features from above, including the necklace patterned granite floor.
ENR Southeast Project of the Year will be announced at the regional Best Projects event in Atlanta later in the year.
