Originally from Laurens, South Carolina, Gary joined ESa as a Lean Advocate in 2016 to assist with process of proactively embedding continuous improvement, guided by Lean thinking, into the firm’s business strategies. Continued improvements in facility design and delivery will enhance the firm’s ability to provide clients with designs that encourage greater cost-effectiveness and increased speed to market.
Gary has worked in many industries during his over 30-year career, spending the first two decades in manufacturing companies in the industrial engineering, Lean manufacturing and quality assurance arenas across the country and internationally. In the last decade and a half, he provided consulting services to companies such as Luminant Energy (formerly Texas Utilities), Alcoa Refinery and FMC Incorporated (Wyoming and Norway) in a wide range of topics to include implementation of Lean processes and preparation for the Shingo Award, development of maintenance strategies and contractor management processes, along with many other business operating system improvements.
Formally educated as an Industrial Engineer, Gary’s range of experience, from the textile, to the automotive and power generation industries, gives him the ability to adapt and apply Lean, quality management and reliability techniques to a wide variety of industries. His experience in both the consulting and management worlds give him the ability to adapt to working with any level of an organization, from production staff to company CEOs. When not in the office or traveling for work, Gary is an avid college football fan, golfer (or hacker) and beach bum.
